Prices are taken from our salon menu (October 2026). A “+” means the price rises with hair length, condition or add-ons, and a range means each designer sets their own price. Your designer confirms the final price before work starts.
What ash color looks like
Ash tones contain blue, green or violet pigment. Those pigments cancel the orange and red that dark hair shows when it is lightened. The result looks cool: gray-brown, smoky or pale silver depending on the depth. In daylight an ash brown can read as almost neutral, and in warm indoor light it can look a little warmer.
Ash is not a single shade but a family. A designer can go from a deep ash brown to a light ash beige, depending on how much your hair can be lightened.
Why ash needs a light enough base
Cool pigment sits on top of the color already in your hair. On black hair, an ash dye alone tends to look dark and only slightly cool. To see a clearer ash tone, the hair is usually lifted first. Most dark Asian hair lifts to a warm orange-brown at moderate levels, and the ash pigment then neutralises that warmth.
This is why the cost and the number of visits differ from person to person. A bleach step is not included in the ash line on the menu. The bleaching guide explains how lightening works.
Ash and milk tea brown
Both appear on the same menu line, but they feel different. Milk tea brown is soft, creamy and slightly warm. Ash is cooler and more muted. If you hesitate, show the designer a photo and say which of the two words describes it: creamy or smoky.

Keeping ash tones
Cool tones fade faster than warm ones, because the blue and violet pigments are small and wash out. As ash fades it usually moves toward yellow or warm brown. To slow that:
- Wash with lukewarm water, not hot.
- Use a shampoo made for colored hair. Ask the designer whether a purple or blue shampoo suits your tone.
- Protect hair from sun and heat styling.
A toner refresh at the salon is a common way to bring the cool tone back. The designer tells you how often.
What to tell the designer
Mention the shade of your hair now, any earlier bleach or dye, and a recent perm. Black dye or henna can resist lightening and change the plan. Say whether you prefer a deeper ash or a lighter one, and how much upkeep you are willing to do. A photo taken in daylight is more useful than one under salon lights.
Related color choices
If your color is too orange after a previous service, a tone-down color may fit better. For a full range of options, see the hair color page.
Is ash a good choice for your hair?
Ash looks cleanest on hair that is in good condition, because pale, cool shades show dryness and frizz quickly. If your hair is already dry from earlier bleach, the designer may suggest a deeper ash brown, which asks less of the hair than a light silver.
Skin tone is another factor. Cool tones can look flat against some warm complexions. If you are unsure, ask the designer for a test of the idea on a small section, or read about the personal color service before deciding. Offices and schools may also have rules on lightness, so check yours before choosing a pale ash.

Questions guests ask
How much is ash color at WENEED Seomyeon Lotte?
Milk / ash brown starts from ₩74,000+. The designer confirms the final price based on your length and condition.
Can I get ash color on black hair?
A deep ash brown is possible on dark hair, but a clear light ash usually needs lightening first. The designer judges how far your hair can go.
Is bleach included in the ash price?
No. If lightening is needed, the designer quotes it as a separate step.
Why does ash color turn yellow?
Cool pigments are small and wash out faster, which lets the warm tones underneath show. A toner refresh and gentle care slow this.
Is ash different from milk tea brown?
Yes. Ash is cooler and more muted, while milk tea brown is creamier and slightly warmer.
