Types of bangs to choose from
- Full bangs: a dense, straight or slightly rounded fringe across the forehead. It gives a strong, youthful frame and needs the most upkeep.
- See-through bangs (시스루뱅): thinner bangs that let some forehead show. A common Korean choice that is lighter to wear and easier to blend.
- Curtain or side-swept bangs: parted in the middle or to one side and swept toward the temples. They grow out the most gracefully.
- Short or baby bangs: cut high on the forehead. They make a bold change and show every uneven edge.

Check your hair before you commit
Four things decide whether bangs sit well, and your designer will check each one:
- Hairline and forehead height: a high forehead needs more cut to cover; a low one calls for lighter, shorter bangs.
- Cowlick or whorl at the front: this can push bangs sideways. A designer may cut them longer to let them settle.
- Hair texture: wavy or curly bangs shrink when dry and may need to be cut longer than they look when wet.
- Thickness: very thick hair makes full bangs heavy, so the designer may thin the density.
