What a layered perm is for
A layered perm is meant for hair that has been cut in layers. The layers give the hair different lengths, and the perm shapes how those lengths move: where they curve, where they lift and where they sit close to the face. The menu describes it as “movement for layered cuts”.
It is a styling service, so results depend on your cut, your hair type and your hair history. Ask the designer to explain how the curl will sit on your layers before you decide.
Cut first, or perm first?
Layers and curl affect each other. If you do not yet have layers, a layered cut can be planned at the same visit, and the designer will tell you which order suits your hair. If you already have layers that have grown out, mention it so the perm is planned around the current length.
